Grand Center Arts Academy senior Maliyah Barela recently participated in the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) St. Louis Student Journalism Workshop, a weeklong summer program designed to introduce aspiring journalists to careers in media and communications.
Held at Webster University, the workshop provided students with hands-on experience in broadcast journalism, podcasting, digital storytelling, public relations, and multimedia reporting while learning directly from professional journalists and media leaders from across the St. Louis region.
Throughout the week, students collaborated on original reporting projects, developed new storytelling skills, and explored the many career opportunities available in journalism and communications.
Congratulations to Maliyah on representing Grand Center Arts Academy and Confluence Academies, and taking advantage of this outstanding opportunity to learn from industry professionals and further develop her passion for storytelling.
