Cindy Kalachek thumbAs a teacher, curriculum writer and editor, Cindy Kalachek seeks out ways to infuse the arts into her English classroom.  She earned her M.Ed. in the Arts in Education from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, and her  B.A. from Washington University, where she studied English, Secondary Education and Art History.  For seven years, Ms. Kalachek taught Upper School English at MICDS in St. Louis, instructing grades 9-12 in the writing process and analyzing world and American literature.  She is thrilled to be a part of GCAA, a school that she has followed and admired since its inception.  She looks forward to using visual and performing arts as ways to enhance understanding of the reading her classes will do.  As students' understanding of literature grows, Ms. Kalachek also looks forward to crafting strong writers, capable of arranging their thoughts and ideas with clarity and style.  She will be teaching Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" during the 2013-14, and eager to see how a group of student artists approach Shakespeare, expects a wonderful journey ahead. She lives in University City with her husband and two active children, ages 6 and 3 1/2, who never cease to amaze her with their discoveries and imaginations.  Email: Ms. Kalachek's classroom website:
