For several weeks, Matt Washausen of UMSL (University of Missouri - St. Louis) worked with high school students from Grand Center Arts Academy as part of his senior thesis. The result was: "Audio Chroma." In the following video, Washausen discusses his work during the December 16, 2016 exhibition of Audio Chroma at UMSL Fine Arts Building Gallery.
On Thursday, April 21, 2016, the GCAA Visual Arts Students (Middle School and High School) were featured at the Annual Spring Art Show. The Show drew a big crowd to the Sun Theater. The show also succeeded in raising funds for future art projects. Many of the works from the show are featured below. Chair of the Art Department, Ms. Megan Clayton discussed this year's show with me:
On May 12, 2015 St. Louis based f-stop presented Grand Center Arts Academy with a donation of twenty-four camera and laptop bags for use by GCAA's photography program run by Ms. Jess Dewes. This gift, totaling almost $4,000 will assist the school in fulfilling its mission as an arts-focused, college preparatory school, and represents the first step in an effort by the company to create a support system and network for photographers in the area. “This donation of 24, Ando bags to the GCAA is representative of the company’s commitment to photographers and photography education in the region,” says Jason Gray, Community Manager for f-stop. “As we gather momentum for the most significant product launch in our company’s history, we feel that it is important to show our appreciation to the local community that got us there. What better way is there to do that than to assist those artists at the beginning of their careers?” f-stop is a St. Louis city based provider of adventure and travel photography camera bags, designed to survive the most demanding conditions for photographers throughout the world. The company has been in operation since 2006, and is represented by many of the best photographers at work today.
