The Grand Center Arts Academy chess team has continued its success, recently bringing home hardware from the Gateway League and the Red Rook Tournament. At the Gateway Team Tournament, GCAA earned 1st place in the 9th grade and under category, led by Christopher Corriveau who took 2nd on Board 1, Sophie Brieler who took 1st on Board 2, Galen Selligman who took 2nd on Board 4, and Mila Schmidt who took 2nd on Board 5. In addition, GCAA took 2nd place in the 8th grade and under section of the Red Rook Tournament. Lillian Selligman took home a 1st place trophy in 8th grade and Sophie Brieler placed 3rd place in 7th grade. Next up is the SLU Action Tournament as the team prepares for the Missouri State Championships and Nationals in Lexington, Kentucky.
