Attached with this email is a calendar for the upcoming school year. Your students will be bringing home course descriptions and registration for next year's classes no later than Monday, May 19. These will need to be returned by Friday, May 23. They will also be posted on our website.
There is no change in the time school begins next year. It remains 8:00 a.m. However, we have listened to your feedback about the dimissal times and have been able to adjust ending school so that both middle school and high school students will be dismissed at 3:30. We will also have an extended day option for high school students (that are in good standing) and wish to take additional arts classes after school that will have a 5:00 dismissal. Middle school students needing to stay until 5:00 are still encouraged to find alternative sources for after care through Youth Learning Center or Girls, Inc. Both of those organizations provide transportation from GCAA to their site. We are also investigating sources of after care for our middle school students at GCAA, but know that there has to be a fee involved to pay for this service, because we do not have the funds to do so.GCAA Calendar for School Year 2014-15 August 11 Professional Development, No School 12 First Day of School September 1 Labor Day, No School 12 Professional Development, No School October 3 Professional Development, No School 17 Parent-Teacher Conferences, No School November 10 Professional Development, No School 11 Veterans Day, No School 26-28 Thanksgiving Holiday, No School December 22 through Jan 1 Winter Break, No School January 2 Professional Development, No School 5 School Resumes 19 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, No School February 13 Professional Development, No School 16 Presidents Day, No School March 13 Parent-Teacher Conferences, No School 16-20 Spring Break, No School April 3 No School May 21 Last Day of School 22 Professional Development, No School 25 Memorial Day, No School 26 through June 2 Make Up Days*
