Want to represent GCAA? Join Student Ambassadors

GCAA is going to begin a Student Ambassador program. If you are interested in helping GCAA and doing more performances - - THIS IS THE GROUP FOR YOU! This will be a fun group, with lots of opportunities for additional performances and the opportunity to show others what makes GCAA so great! All visual and performing artists are encouraged to join. All students who have attended GCAA for one year and are advancing to 7th -10th may apply. Please read below for more information. If interested you may pick up application in Mrs. Palmer's office. Applications are available starting Thursday, May 16. Interviews will take place before school is out. First Student Ambassadors performance will be June 28th. Why Be a Student Ambassador? You will become part of an important team of students that represent GCAA. You might be interested because you want a leadership role to put on you college applications. Others join because they enjoy their experiences at GCAA and want additional performance opportunities. For some students it provides another outlet for being involved on campus with friends while being productive. Student Ambassadors will also be involved in fun social events Function of Position Student Ambassadors will serve as the first point of contact for many adult professional artists and other visitors to GCAA, represent the student body at outside public events, attend various fundraisers for the school and participate in community service projects. Ambassadors are to participate as much as possible with an expected time commitment of 30 hours per year, roughly one event per month. Student families should carefully consider if this commitment presents any academic or transportation issues. In their role as an Ambassador, students will be expected to know pertinent facts about the school, speak with a lively and positive spirit at all times, be comfortable with public speaking, be prepared to lead tours, and be able to perform for small groups (visual artist would draw/paint/sculpt with an audience watching). Requirements• Minimum 3.0 overall GPA • Must be in 7th grade or greater classification • Must have attended GCAA for at least 1 year • Must have good verbal communication skills (Bi-lingual skills a plus) • Must have an artistic talent they wish to share and perform • Be prepared to purchase a Student Ambassador logo wear for $25 Expectations/Job Duties• Provide assistance during campus events • Provide assistance to campus Recruitment Team in preparing for events • Greet all visitors and answer questions with a positive and professional attitude • Meet with adult professional artists or other visitors who come to GCAA • Perform at-school and other outside GCAA functions • Participate in after-school and evening events Training Student Ambassadors are required to attend two mandatory training sessions. These sessions will take during the month of June.
