GCAA Gets 4th Place Award in Lend-a-Can Food Drive; Wins $1,000 Prize

Great news reported by GCAA parent Erin Kelley:

GCAA placed 4th in the “Lend a Can” food drive contest to benefit the St. Louis Area Foodbank! We collected 1,427 pounds of food which will provide 1,165 meals for the needy. And…GCAA will receive a $1,000 prize! The winner of the contest ($2,500) is Queen of All Saints with 2,205 lbs. The runners-up ($1,000) are: Marquette High School (1,977 lbs.), Ritenour High School (1,443 lbs.), GCAA (1,427 lbs.), Our Lady of Guadalupe (1,217 lbs.), & Francis Howell Middle School (832 lbs.).

The St. Louis Area Foodbank will contact “Lend a Can” parent coordinator Erin Kelley Mabrey within the next couple of weeks to arrange a check presentation to GCAA. In the meantime, school administration and staff will discuss how the prize can be best used to benefit the GCAA guitar students.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the food drive – way to go!

And kudos to Erin, who spearheaded this project.
