Renowned Jazz Trumpeter and Composer Terence Blanchard to visit GCAA

World renowned trumpeter/composer/band leader, Terence Blanchard will visit the Grand Center Arts Academy on Thursday, September 20, 2012. In partnership with Jazz St. Louis, Mr. Blanchard will perform with his band and take questions from students. This special event will kick-off an exciting new partnership with Jazz St. Louis, one of the top jazz organizations and jazz presenters in the U.S. Mr. Blanchard is from New Orleans, where he still lives. He studied with trumpeter, Wynton Marsalis at the famed New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA). Mr. Blanchard has performed with numerous jazz legends and took over for Mr. Marsalis when he left the famous Jazz Messengers. He has also worked extensively as a film composer in Los Angeles and has worked closely with film director, Spike Lee for whom he has scored over seven films.
