Jazz Trumpeter and Composer Terence Blanchard Visits GCAA

World renowned trumpeter/composer/band leader, Terence Blanchard visited the Grand Center Arts Academy on Thursday, September 20, 2012. In partnership with Jazz St. Louis, Mr. Blanchard performed with his band and take questions from students. This special event kicked-off an exciting new partnership with Jazz St. Louis, one of the top jazz organizations and jazz presenters in the U.S. Mr. Blanchard is from New Orleans, where he still lives. He studied with trumpeter, Wynton Marsalis at the famed New Orleans Center for the Create Arts (NOCCA). Mr. Blanchard has performed with numerous jazz legends and took over for Mr. Marsalis when he left the famous Jazz Messengers. He has also worked extensively as a film composer in Los Angeles and has worked closely with film director, Spike Lee for whom he has scored over seven films.
